Discovery of Fragrance oil
Attar is a Persian / Arabic word meaning "fragrance, scent or essence.' Attars are popular in the NearEast, Persia and India for over 5,000 years. The discovery of natural oils from the mughal period led to the discovery and development of process for the preparation of attars from Roses by Noorjahan, the mughal queen. This was the beginning of natural attars in India. There are evidences in history and Hindu sacred books that perfumery tradition dates back to over 5000 years at the time of Indus valley civilization as well when distillation practice was reported to be in existence.
Manufacturing system: The attars are manufactured traditionally by 'Degs & Bhapka system' made of copper which is a hydrodistillation process.
